From Issey Miyake’s Spring/Summer 1992 collection, created during the period in which Miyake was intensively developing the garment-pleating techniques that would lead to Pleats Please. This ivory shirt transforms a familiar collared silhouette through precise vertical pleating and dramatically extended shoulder panels that fold inward into a long, sculptural front drape. The construction reflects Miyake’s exploration of how a flat pleated surface can expand into three-dimensional form around the body.
