A blazer from Yohji Yamamoto's Autumn/Winter 1986 collection. Yohji Yamamoto founded the house in Tokyo in the early 1970s and showed it in Paris from 1981. The season sits in the foundational 1980s avant-garde era, characterised by voluminous, all-black, asymmetric and deliberately distressed garments that rejected body-conscious Western tailoring. The work of this period favours layering, raw edges, wool and gabardine.
