The "Hands Motif" jacket comes from the Fall/Winter 2007 "Curiosity" collection by Comme des Garçons. Rei Kawakubo sought to create something like a "gateway to another world," exploring the soft, naive, and slightly fragile inner state of early female adolescence-one that is often erased by society at a very young age. Like an imagined "virtual lover" from teenage fantasy, the three dimensional hands grasp the skirt at the hips, carrying a sense of playfulness white subtly projecting themes of the body and emotion.
